A MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL SALVADOR DALI DRAWING IN VARIOUS COLORS INSCRIBED TO DAVID ROCKEFELLER
DALI, SALVADOR. 1904-1989.
Rare signed book: Dali. First edition. NY: Harry N. Abrams, 1968. Hardcover with beautiful foil dust jacket, 11.5 x 12.25, 242 pages. Prominently signed on the opening page in fine blue pen “Pour David Rockefeller, Hommage de Dali, 1971″ along with his additional inscription in red and black ink ,”A Terri, Grants Plan”. Dali then provides a wonderful full-length extremely detailed sketch of a horse and rider with flowing hair holding a scepter and a small crown above his signature in fine blue ink. Dali has added an additional design to the adjacent page which appears to be birds in flight in black fountain ink with continued black fountain pen flourishes on the preceding page. Any Dali sketch is quite uncommon and highly sought-after, with such detailed examples of this legendary character scarcer still. The fact that Dali inscribes this intricate art to David Rockefeller makes this piece incomparable.
