ANDREW WYETH PENS A CHARMING ORIGINAL ARTWORK
ANDREW WYETH (1917-2007). Wyeth, an American realist painter whose life and career spanned the better part of the 20th century, produced in 1948 one of the most iconic paintings in American art, a desolate Maine landscape with a single figure called Christina’s World.
Excellent signed and hand-illustrated book, “Andrew Wyeth”, by Richard Merryman (Boston; Houghton Mifflin Company), 1968, 174pp. oblong folio. Stated First Printing. Beige buckram cloth with dark brown cloth backing. Unclipped dust jacket. Wonderful collection of some of the finest works of this late American artist.
Wyeth signs in blue ink on the half-title page, adding a dedication and a rare, charming and intricate original sketch depicting a New England farm house and shed on a hill, typical of his work, approx. 3″ x 5″, titled “John Chad’s House”. An amazing opportunity to own an original artwork by an American master.
