PIERRE RENOIR ATTESTS TO THE AUTHENTICITY OF ONE OF HIS PAINTINGS
Pierre-Auguste Renoir Photographic Print Signed “Renoir.” 6.5″ x 10.25″, Cagnes, Alpes Maritimes; January 10, 1911. A black and white print reproduction of one of Renoir’s artworks, depicting a portrait of a young woman wrapped in a shawl. Signed in the bottom margin. Below Renoir’s signature is a certification stating that “Pierre Auguste Renoir artiste-peintre” signed this note, January 10, 1911. The seal of Cagnes, Alpes Maritimes, is to the lower left of the Mayor’s signature. Mounted and framed to an overall size of 13.5″ x 17.5″.
Renoir had moved to Cagnes-sur-mer, France in 1908, after buying the estate of Les Collettes. He painted at this estate for the last ten years of his life, despite suffering increasingly from arthritis.
