15 original full-page lithographs by Fernand Leger of which 10 are hand-colored using the pochoir technique. All color lithographs with vivid colors. With a 4 page preface by Henry Miller in facsimile of his handwriting. The lithographs are printed by Roth & Sauer in Lausanne on hand made, tinted, papier Velin. One of only 75 copies with an extra suite of all 15 lithographs printed in black & white on Chine paper. SIGNED on the limitation page by Leger and publisher Louis Grosclaude. Leger incorporated Rimbaud’s poems from ‘Les Illuminations’ into his compositions. Parts of four poems are used in illustrations. The text was written in calligraphy. A splendid copy with the rare extra suite. 4to, rebound in full deep brown morocco with marbled endpapers, t.e.g., matching slipcase, original wrappers bound in. Limited edition, number 226 on velin teinte from a total edition of 395. A beautiful book in wonderful condition signed by the artist and publisher in ink on the limitation page. Exhibition postcard laid in.
